I used all the tools that I learned in the other attempts to make this one. While it looks simple, there is about 13 layers involved in this one. Each layer was created using the quick mask and gradient tool. I then changed the curves, color and/or opacity on each layer. I do like the way that this one turned out.

This is my second attempt at my portrait. I hate the way that it turned out but it was a very good way to learn a little more about photoshop. I used masks and the paste into tool. I think one of the most important things that I learned to use was the save selection tool. There have been countless times that I have worked really hard to select something and then loose the selection. I like the way that the curls became a sort of window that you could see my eyes, lips etc. I really do not like the way that this turned out because it seems like there was no direction that was followed when making it.... maybe because there wasnt.

This is the first attempt at a portrait that I did. I learned to use channels and the paste into tool. Really this one was paste and repeat. I like how it turned out... but its all been done before.

the beginning of IKEA :)

For the Wall paper assignment, I decided to go with the frame idea. I thought it would be a little more versatile but I was wrong. I really struggled with finding the right way to use it in the furniture poster. The first idea that came to my head was literally just a bunch of frames and maybe writing within the frames. This became really busy really fast. The second idea I actually liked a lot. I made the boxes into furniture like objects and had stick figures all through out the boxes. However there was a lack of white space in the final and the concept wasn't as clear as I would have hoped.
I began back at square one. I then thought of functional furniture and the first thing that came to my mind was a t.v. dinner tray and how absurd it is. I played with that for a while and then gave up. I started doodling and came up with a sad looking kid sitting on the floor.... and then a poster was created.
