the beginning of IKEA :)

For the Wall paper assignment, I decided to go with the frame idea. I thought it would be a little more versatile but I was wrong. I really struggled with finding the right way to use it in the furniture poster. The first idea that came to my head was literally just a bunch of frames and maybe writing within the frames. This became really busy really fast. The second idea I actually liked a lot. I made the boxes into furniture like objects and had stick figures all through out the boxes. However there was a lack of white space in the final and the concept wasn't as clear as I would have hoped.
I began back at square one. I then thought of functional furniture and the first thing that came to my mind was a t.v. dinner tray and how absurd it is. I played with that for a while and then gave up. I started doodling and came up with a sad looking kid sitting on the floor.... and then a poster was created.

Voila!

This composition is made up of a lowercase h. I am having a hard time with the colors, I think that I like this top one most though.

This is the letter m and o from the bauhaus font.
This pattern consists of the letters gbdqh and p.

Today's idea for the wallpaper. I was thinking of doing something similar to the box idea with letter forms. I'll continue to work with it and see what I come up with. I liked this idea because I can post thoughts and images I have been working on in the boxes. Possibly if it were a website, each box could be a link to an image, photo, song etc.
